While Kerela has a population divided into Sects such as Hindus, Muslims and Christians. On the outside, neither does the attire or language of people a giveaway
of the religion they follow. But no other religion is as flamboyantly present in the city as much as Christianity in Cochin. Be it paintings of Jesus and Mother Mary and
churches at every second corner, a cross, a divine message or an image of Christ- A reminder of something greater is everywhere you go. |

"If I could say it in words, I wouldn't need to photograph."- Lewis Hine
I think my pictures are a lot like me. Instinctive, spontaneous and genuinely interested in people and their lives. As a photographer assigned the city of Cochin my focus is on people.
Not yet quite the city of cool, Cochin today prides itself on a couple of new malls and pubs, a hugely popular reality TV show, the FM channel- Radio Mango, and some young dance and cultural groups. Of course, women from ‘good families’ aren’t meant be out after 7 pm but they are. Aspirin isn’t the only drug that youngsters are popping.
Finally, on framing. I almost never crop my pictures after I’ve shot them. I enjoy my photos the way I’m sharing them with you. Somewhat unfinished, somewhat like life. The way they speak to me, triggering new ideas. I hope they say something to you as well |
