10 days on, still no clue of girl's identity

Ten days after a partially decomposed body of a young woman was found in the bushes in Film City, Goregaon (E), police investigations and suspicions have narrowed down to the deceased being a part of the film fraternity.

Untraceable: Security staff spotted the body lying in the bushes with the stomach covered with a gunny bag

According to the police, the deceased has still not been identified, and they are in the process of tracing her identity.

Police suspect the girl was connected with movies or serials, and moreover since there was a film unit shooting in the area during the time of her murder, the police believe the deceased was from the industry. Following which they have questioned many model coordinators and people associated with the film industry.

According to the post-mortem report, the deceased was between the ages of 16 to 25, and was killed one-and-a-half month from the day that she was found. The body was found in the forest on October 21, after security guards patrolling the area spotted the partially decomposed body.

Cops have also been in touch with the Thane and Mumbai police to enquire about any missing complaints registered, and are calling all complainants who have filed a missing person complaint during that period.

A police source said that there is a possibility that the girl could be from another city, who might have come here to pursue a career in the film industry. It also appears that after killing the lady, acid was poured on the face of the deceased. A police officer stated that the woman’s stomach was covered with a gunny bag and her face, hands, chest and legs were decomposed, adding that the covered stomach was intact because of the bag. According to the police, motive behind the murder is not robbery as she had three gold rings on her fingers.

“We are probing every angle to trace the identity of the deceased. We are also looking through all missing complaints, which have been filed during that period,” said Uttam More, senior inspector at Aarey police station. u00a0
