Thieves render families unconscious using chloroform
An unidentified gang of robbers broke into 11 houses in one night in a Vasai East colony. The robbers, who are still absconding, sneaked into the houses and walked away with sarees after rendering the residents unconscious with chloroform.
The incident took place on Friday night between 2 am and 5 am at the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) colony.
One of the victims, Avinash Karate, said, “My family and I were sleeping in the bedroom. When we woke up at 5 am, the main door was left ajar. When I checked the house, only sarees and important documents had gone missing.”
A case has been registered with the Manikpur police. “They stolen sarees were worth R1,200,” a police officer said.
