An 11-year-old girl, who was battling for life for the past two days after being meted out corporal punishment allegedly by her school teacher, died in a hospital here on Friday.
A class II student of MCD primary school in Bawana, Shona, who had slipped into coma after being allegedly punished by her teacher two days ago, breathed her last at Maharishi Valmiki Hospital here.

"She died in a hospital. We are investigating the case. However, no case has been registered. We are awaiting for the medical report of the girl to ascertain whether she died due to corporal punishment," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer Delhi) Atul Katiyar said.
Katiyar said the family first claimed that she was made to sit like a hen. Then they alleged that she was made to stand in sun for hours.
"We are awaiting the medical report. We want to know whether she had any past medical history. School authorities claim that the girl was not healthy. We are verifying all claims," he said.
The teacher, identified as Manju, allegedly made the girl act like hen, besides making her stand in the sun, the family had claimed.
MCD had yesterday suspended principal Dhanpati and the accused teacher Manju. MCD Commissioner KS Mehra also ordered Director of Primary Education section in the civic body to conduct an enquiry into the incident.
