A 13-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly raping a two-and-a-half-year-old girl in Ambernath (West) last evening
According to Shivshankar Munde, senior police inspector of Ambernath police station, the girl was playing alone outside her house as her mother had gone out to run an errand. The 13-year-old boy, who works as a labourer in a factory, picked the child up and took her to his hut, where he raped her twice.
After the act, he took the girl back to her house. When the girl’s mother returned and saw the child bleeding, she rushed the girl to a private hospital where the doctor informed her of the rape. Later, the girl was shifted to the civic-run Central Hospital, Ulhasnagar.

The victim’s mother registered an FIR. During investigations, a neighbour told the police that he had seen the girl with the teenager. The boy, who confessed to the crime, is in police custody and will be taken to Juvenile Court in Ulhasnagar today. u00a0
