14-year-old maid raped and murdered by employer in Thane

Vikram Jasra, 68, allegedly raped and murdered a 14-year-old girl, who worked in his house in Vasant Vihar area of Thane, police said on Saturday.

Vikram Jasra, 68, allegedly raped and murdered a 14-year-old girl, who worked in his house in Vasant Vihar area of Thane, police said on Saturday.

"The victim's mother was a maid and the victim used to accompany her mother to an apartment in the Panchvati building in Vasant Vihar.

Jasra's neighbours found her unconscious on the steps of the building and rushed her to hospital," Senior Inspector Shahaji Jadhav said.

"The victim died soon after she was admitted to hospital where doctors confirmed that she was raped," Jadhav added.

Police have arrested Vikram Jasra and have charged him under Section 302 (murder) and Section 376 (rape) of the India Penal Code. The investigation is on.
