It is a shame capital after all. A day after it was reported that an 11-year-old girl was raped for a month,u00a0 a 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped inside her house by her neighbour in Mehrauli area of South Delhi on Wednesday afternoon.

A senior police official said that the victim, Nagma (name changed) lived with her parents who work with a private firm. "On Wednesday, when her parents had gone for work and she was alone at home, the accused Prabhat Kumar barged inside her house.

He locked the door from inside, threatened her not to make a noise and raped her. Before leaving the house, he again threatened her of dire consequence if she told anyone about the incident. In the evening when her mother came back, she narrated the whole incident to her who then called the police," the police official said. The girl was sent to Safdarjung Hospital for the medical examination on Wednesday night .


Figures say a lot

According to the latest report by the National Crime Records Bureau of the Union ministry of home affairs, Delhiu00a0 reported the highest crime rate in relation to children with an average of 16 cases per one lakh population when compared to the national average of 2 cases per one lakh population. The "Crime in India 2009" report puts the number of rape of minors at 296 and incest at 11 in the capital. According to NCRB figures on crime against children, there were a total of 398 cases in the category of rape and incest in 2007, 301 in 2008 and 307 in 2009 in Delhi.
