At least 16 people were killed and 20 were injured in a collision between a bus and another vehicle in the outskirts of Ranchi early Monday, police said

At least 16 people were killed and 20 were injured in a collision between a bus and another vehicle in the outskirts of Ranchi early Monday, police said.


The accident took place between the bus, carrying around 45 people, and a trailer near the Surya temple situated at Bundu on the Ranchi-Jamshedpur national highway at 3 a.m.


Chief Minister Arjun Munda has confirmed the news of the accident.


The bus was going to Arra district of Bihar from Jamshedpur. Near Bundu, there is a serpentine road, where the vehicle collided with the trailer.

The injured people have been admitted at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi. The condition of 17 are said to be serious.

Munda air-dashed to Ranchi from Kolkata Monday morning and directly went to RIMS to inquire about the injured people.

He has also announced a compensation of Rs.2 lakh to the kin of each dead person.
