The margin of error is minimal in a low-scoring match and Team India experienced just that in yesterday's first ODI against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka were 13-1 in the sixth over and a wicket at that juncture would have made the going a bit more difficult for the visitors. However, Jasprit Bumrah repeated the same mistake he had committed during the ICC Champions Trophy final against Pakistan this year by overstepping.

It resulted in Upul Tharanga getting a reprieve when he was on 11. Tharanga went on to score 49 off 46 balls to set up the chase for Sri Lanka.Bumrah had bowled a no-ball in the June 18 final to Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman, who capitalised on his chance when he was on three to score a match-winning 114-run knock. In the next over though, Bhuvneshwar Kumar made up for Bumrah's disappointment by claiming Lahiru Thirimanne's wicket on the first ball of his fourth over. India skipper Rohit Sharma did not think it had a major impact on the outcome, but Sri Lanka coach Nic Pothas believed otherwise. Pothas said: "I firmly believe that there were two massive moments in the game. [Winning] the toss was one and the no-ball to Upul Tharanga. Had we lost another one [wicket], we would have been 15 for three and that is a hugely different situation," Pothas said.
