Formula One's global TV audience increased to 527 million people over the course of last season. The rise in numbers came as a result of additional coverage of live free practice, additional qualifying and race programming added to schedules worldover.

In conjunction with one of the most exciting finishes to a season in F1's history, over 16,000 hours of coverage were broadcast to 187 countries, with growth in nine of the 11 largest TV markets. Across Europe, many of Formula One Management's broadcast partners reported highest race audiences.

F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone said: "Whilst 2010 delivered great things, 2011 promises even more as Formula One seeks to build upon the foundations laid in our emerging markets and enthral our audiences across the world."
