At least 29 Shia pilgrims were shot dead Tuesday in southwest Pakistan, Xinhua reported.

The victims were travelling in a bus that was attacked around 5.30 p.m. near Mastung in Balochistan province.

About 60 Shia Muslims who were on board were ordered to get off the vehicle before four gunmen started indiscriminately firing at them. They were on a pilgrimage from Quetta to Iran.

Thirty others were injured, Urdu channel Express TV reported, quoting the bus driver. The assailants fled the scene after the attack.

The injured were shifted to hospitals in Mastung and Quetta, the capital of Balochistan.
