Cheated 36-year-old helps police nab group that included 2 women

A bogus network attracting young men to work as gigolos for good money was unearthed in Khadki. Police have arrested three persons including two women in this case.

Police say that the group gave the men a lure of money to be sexual companions for widows and subsequently fixed the deal. Police also believe that the trio might have duped many but embarrassment might have prevented them from lodging a complaint.

How did they dupe?
The nexus was unravelled after Osmanabad resident Gopichand Sabale (36) saw an advertisement in a local newspaper. When he called back on the given number, a person called Rahul Pille (26) from Khadki answered the call. He, then introduced him to Pune Camp resident Minu Agarwal (38). They fixed up a meeting at a spot near a private hospital on Dhole Patil Road on October 25th. Agarwal introduced herself as Mrs Gandhi and said that that she needed company because her husband was abroad.

After the meeting got over, when Sabale returned home, he received a call from a certain Mrs Chopra, who invited him to Pune because Mrs Gandhi was ready to offer him Rs 15 lakh for his services. However he was asked to pay Rs 50,000 as a commission for this deal. They fixed up a meeting at a spot near Wakadewadi on October 30. On the day of the meeting, Rahul Pille and his accomplice handed over the cheque to him. In return they asked him to pay Rs 4 lakh as commission. However, Sabale paid only Rs 50,000 in cash as a commission.

When Sable went to the bank in order to encash the cheque he realized that the said account was closed.

Belling the cat
He realised, he was duped and immediately informed the police. As a part of the ploy to trap them, he called him once again and offered them to pay the remaining amount as commission.

This time, they asked him to come near hotel Samrat on Wednesday where another girl approached him. But Sabale insisted on handing over the amount only to Raja and Agarwal. When the duo arrived, the police arrested them while they were accepting money from Sabale.

Senior Police Inspector Vilas Gavali of Khadki Police station said "In these cases, as people fear loss of prestige, they do not come forward to lodge a police complaint. But in this case, Sabale was determined to get back his money."

Gavali added, "They lured 26-year-old Nagpur resident Usha Zade alias Anjali into this racket and sent her to accept Rs 3,50,000 from Sable with a promise that they will give her Rs 20,000 in return."

Investigating Office API Shiram Paul said, "Agarwal ran a beauty parlour. Usha Zade alias Anjali (26) stayed as a paying guest with Agarwal."

Sources revealed that Pilleu00a0 worked for a private moneylender and had lent money to Agarwal. That's how these three got in touch.
