48 illegal Bangladeshis held

On Thursday, the special branch (I) of the Mumbai police arrested 48 illegal Bangladeshi nationals from the construction sites of L&T (Monorail and Wadala TT), J Kumar (MMRDA) and Lodha builders

48 illegal Bangladeshis held

The police team, headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Prakash Landge and Senior Inspector Vokas Sonavane, checked more than 2,200 labourers working in various sites of construction at BKC, Bandra, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Pant Nagar, Byculla. Worli, Parel, Dadar and Vikroli, and arrested the workers. The police also checked on L&T’s Wadala TT construction site.


According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Sanjay Shintre, 1,121 Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested this year. The police has deported 250 Bangladeshi to Bangladesh.


The Bangladeshis had photocopies of bogus voter ID cards and claimed to be Indians. During investigation they admitted that they bought the ID cards for Rs 150 in West Bengal and came to the Mumbai.u00a0
