London: A little boy obsessed with rubbish bought a real-life bin lorry on eBay with his mum’s credit card.

William Bateman, aged five, hopped onto the computer when his mum left her account open and put in a £3,500 (Rs 3.6 lakh) bid for the rusting white truck. Mum Fleur returned to find he had successfully won the auction — and luckily managed to persuade eBay to scrap the deal.

But despite missing out on his own lorry, young William remains fascinated by rubbish and dreams of growing up to be a recycling plant manager. The highlight of his week is seeing the bin men arrive at his home in Great Paxton, Cambridgeshire and he eagerly watches them in action.

His mom, Fleur, said: “He’s completely obsessed with rubbish and bin lorries - and he even managed to buy one for himself.” She added, “I can laugh about it now but at the time I was so shocked and angry, I couldn’t believe he’d done it.”
