Dilip Sankhe was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his apartment in Shiv Shankar Plaza in Airoli on Tuesday.

Sankhe, a teacher at Nerul’s Zilla Parishad school, was found dead by a relative at around 1:15 pm.

“We found a suicide note at Sankhe’s flat, which stated that some false allegations were the reason for him to take this grave step,” said Rabale policeman S C Kalandare.

“The note said that Sankhe was in a disturbed state of mind since the last 15 days and he held no one responsible for his death,” claimed Kalandare.

“The death has come as a shock for the residents of Shiv Shankar Plaza, since Sankhe was a nice person, and had even won an award for the best residential teacher recently,” said building secretary Kailash Khetkar.

“Though there had been incidents of police coming to his house earlier due to unknown reasons, I strongly feel there must have been some untoward incident in the past which may have caused him to take this grave step,” added Khetkar.

Sankhe is survived by his wife and a daughter.

A case of ADR (Accidental Death Report) has been filed at the Rabale police station.
