6 held in Ghule murder case

The police have arrested six people in connection with Sunday's murder of Rakesh Ghule (25), a resident of Bopkhel.

Ghule was hacked to death by five assailants at an eatery at Kalewadi Phata.

The arrested men were identified by the Hinjewadi police station as Santosh Ashok Kurawat (25), Haidar Javed Sayyed (18), Anand alias Bhaiya Gulab Garud (18), Vikram alias Vicky Nandu Bihari alias Bhilare (21), all residents of Kalewadi, and Arjun Vasant Devkar (23) and Avinash Gautam Bansode (18), both from Bopkhel.

Kurawat and his associates allegedly attacked Ghule when he was in Kalewadi to attend a wedding ceremony.

Police officials suspect that Ghule was killed because of a dispute he had with the suspects in March.

Ghule had been arrested by the Bhosari police under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code after a dispute with Kurawat's brother. He was released on bail a few days ago.
