8 points for a theft-free holiday

All of us wish for our holidays to be fun, memorable experiences. Which is why a break-in or a theft should be avoided at any cost that would ruin the perfect picture. To ensure you have a hassle-free holiday, The Trip comes to your rescue with handy tips to ensure a happy, safe holiday.

Know where you are going: Pickpockets often zero in on people who appear lost or engrossed in trying to find their way, by constantly checking maps or guide books. So, study routes before leaving your hotel and step into a shop for directions, if you are lost.

Take care of your travel documents and valuables: Keep mobiles phones and valuables safe. Avoid carrying or wearing expensive jewellery on a short trip, unless necessary.

Make photocopies of your passport, credit cards and other travel documents to ensure these can be replaced in case of theft.

While travelling outside of the country, contact the embassy or consulate of your destination country in advance for papers you will need and any quarantine or health requirements.

Check if the hotel you are staying at has a safety vault; use it to store your valuables and other important documents.

Be suspicious of strangers: It's best not to trust a new face. Avoid accepting eatables from someone you do not know as it could be laced with a substance that can make you unconscious.

Wear a money belt: Since this can be worn underneath your clothes. It's hard for a thief to spot it, making it difficult for pickpockets to target you.

Lock your hotel door:u00a0 Make sure to lock your hotel door properly before you leave the room and keep the keys in a safe place, preferably in a zip pocket-facing the front concealed in your handbag.
