An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two boys aged 10 and 12 on Sunday at Army servant quarters in Wanwadi Bazar.
The victim, terrified into silence after the incident, broke down and narrated the incident to her parents after she saw a ‘rape scene’ on TV on Monday.
The Wanwadi police have detained the two boys under section 376 (2) (G) (gang-rape) and 34 (common intention). “We are also planning to include some relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 in the sections,” said DCP (Zone IV) Manoj Patil.

As per the information given by Senior Police Inspector Bajirao Mohite of Wanwadi police station, the victim and the suspects are residents of army servant quarters in Wanwadi Bazar and are acquainted with each other.
On Sunday evening, the boys called her to play and took her to nearby bushes where they allegedly raped her. After the incident, the girl went home terrified.
On Monday, while watching television, she saw a rape scene in a movie and immediately told her parents that a similar thing had happened to her the previous day. She also named both boys. “Her parents approached the Wanwadi police station and lodged a complaint on Tuesday,” said Mohite. Themedical examination report of the girl is expected is two days.
A police officer said that a case has been registered and the matter will be investigated thoroughly. The case will be handled with great care.
Patil said that they might also impose the new Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, on the two minors.u00a0
