The power of colours has been extensively documented. Now, artist Priya Patkar is adding an artistic angle to it through her latest exhibition, titled Eternal Colors of Life. Through herartworks, Patkar makes colour come alive through abstract art.
Talking about the exhibition, Patkar says, “The theme of the exhibition is based on five elements of life — Water, Fire, Air, Sky and Earth, which I have depicted using various colours. I have done paintings on water and even though water does not have any colour, I have tried to show its fluidity, rhythm and composition through my paintings. Also, I have used the colour yellow in several works of art as I feel it is the colour of life as it depicts brightness and positivity.”
Patkar believes that the paintings on display will reach out to the viewer as they depict a certain insight on life. “As colours are very important in life, I think every art lover will correlate with the paintings. Every piece of painting shows positivity. Even if a non-art-lover stands in front of a painting, they will be able to comprehend it. I have tried to add depth to the paintings.”
Patkar is a lecturer at a city-based design institute. She pursued art as a career after a Diploma in Fine Arts from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya. She is a post-graduate in Art Education from Bharati Vidyapeeth. Patkar has exhibited in Pune, Sharjah and Dubai. Her paintings are done using acrylic and mixed media with rich textures.
