Darshan, an event that aims to promote artistes from across the country, is set to make its debut in Pune, today
Darshan, an event initiated by filmmaker Umesh Kulkarni, the founder of Arbhaat Short Film Club, actress Jyoti Subhash, and theatre group Natak Company, is set to launch its first edition in the city today with a musical performance by Classical singer B Jayashree and her troupe.
Darshan is an event which will take place every six months
“We started Darshan to promote artistes from different parts of the country. We have strived to select artistes/groups who have dedicated their lives to the promotion of performing arts,” says Kulkarni.

Explaining the reasons behind choosing B Jayshree for the first edition of the event, Kulkarni says that since she is an acclaimed artiste in her field, she was an obvious choice for the debut event. “Besides she has received several awards in Classical music,” he adds.
After every six months, one artiste or group will be chosen to perform at the event, which is free for all.
