Actor David James Elliott had once said, "I'm the star of the show. I should have a decent haircut." We don't know if a good hair cut makes one a star but it definitely does play a role in one's appearance. So a haircut should be taken seriously.u00a0

In fact, the fairer sex has lengthy conversations about matters of the mane.u00a0 And going to a new salon is a big deal.

So when I decided to check out Enrich, the new unisex salon in HyperMarket, Kundanahalli, I was quite apprehensive as most hairdressers complain that my unmanageable curly hair hardly gives scope for interesting shapes.

One fine Saturday morning, I decided to take the plunge .Enrich, the Mumbai-based salon, like every other plush salon, has long mirrors, swiveling chairs and bright lights.

I was greeted by a warm and friendly hairstylist, who, after taking a look at my shoulder length hair, suggested not only a short style but also advised me to go for some funkyu00a0 red streaks.

This was the first time I was colouring my hair and red seemed to be too daring. However, he assured that any shades of red goes well with Indian skin tone. After a long discussion on the pros and cons of it, I finally surrendered myself to the hands of the expert.

The stylist suggested that we first cut the hair to get an idea about which streaks to colour. I was advised that I should reduce the length as I had split ends. But being 'blessed with good health,' I was skeptical since too short a style can make one look chubbier. But I was impressed with what I saw.

The stylist had not only cut it in layers but also shaped the ones in the front, thus making the hair fall on my cheeks to lend a softer look. Happy with the outcome, I gained confidence and agreed to go for bright red streaks (each for Rs 300 for women and Rs 200 for men).

I was told that six streaks should work best for me and they should be placed in a way that they catch attention without appearing too loud.

So, we went ahead with four on the sides and two at the back. When I was brought before the mirror, I was not at all disappointed. The colour being in the inner strands blended well with the natural black colour of my hair andu00a0 gave it a subtle reddish tinge when light fell on it.

The salon also offers regular services like bridal packages, skin treatment, manicure, pedicure and reflexology among others. Tired of sitting for nearly two hours, I decided to treat myself to Foot Reflexology (R 375) for 30 minutes and Pearl Glow Facial (Rsu00a02500).

The foot reflexology was the most relaxing one. With pressure applied on feet and hand with specific thumb, stick and hand techniques, it is an ideal treat after a hard day's work. The Pearl Glow facial, on the other hand, turned out to be an eye-opener. A skin test revealed blackheads, whiteheads and acne on my skin.

The skin expert advised that I should go for a clean-up followed by application of scrub and mud pack. The mud, I was told, has been sourced from the remains of volcanoes. A good 45 minutes later, I opened my eyes to see a fresh face with a golden glow.

Relaxing and refreshing, the Pearl Glow Facial is a good option for a special evening ahead. After spending nearly four hours in Enrich, I came out feeling pampered and happy with a new haircut sporting red streaks and promising myself that I would be back there soon and try out something for the first time, just like I did this time.
