Sourav Ganguly is mighty impressed with Chesteshwar Pujara. In the lunchtime television show with Sanjay Manjrekar and Geoff Boycott yesterday, the former India captain said Pujara had the khadoos attitude which one associates with Mumbai batsmen

A Mumbai connection to Pujara!

Ganguly mentioned the names of host Manjrekar, Shishir Hattangadi and even Lalchand Rajput, both of whom played in the same Tata Sports Club team at times. Actor Boman Irani, who played the role of a cricketing grandfather of a talented young cricketer in a movie not so long ago, was thrilled hearing Ganguly. He was quick to tweet: “Felt so proud when Sourav Ganguly mentioned Shishir Hattangadi as one of Mumbai’s great players. Khadoos on the field, gentleman off it!!!”

Ganguly’s conversation with Manjrekar and Boycott was not the only one centering around domestic cricket. Rahul Dravid remembered playing for Karnataka against a Ravi Shastri-led Mumbai team in the 1993-94 Ranji Trophy quarter-final at Bangalore. Dravid recalled Shastri and Sairaj Bahutule getting hundreds. He also remembered that his team had got Shastri run out. Mumbai won the game thanks to their first innings lead and went on to win the title by beating Bengal in the final.u00a0
