A not so pretty trend

Pool sliders are the kind of shoes I would never be caught dead in but fashion houses all over seem to have taken a liking to the ugly, open-toed thick strapped slippers that one would usually associate only with boys who don’t have a bath before they come to college or neighbourhood uncles out for an errand.

However, if you wish to follow trends blindly, the city’s weather now is just right to try these on.

Brands such as Prada, Celine, Isabel Marant and Marc Jacobs have showcased couture versions made using metallic materials, rhinestones, and soft leather, and even versions of the humble hiking sandals made edgy with platforms.

Spending a bomb on these feels like crime, so go DIY instead with studs, lace or beads and make fancy ones of your own.
