A weekend of fun

Film lovers in Bangalore are in for a treat with loads of entertaining movies finally hitting the screens. There seems to be something for everyone. The period of bad films that the city has been witnessing seems to have finally ended. Movie-goers are thrilled with the current set of movies that are playing in the city's theatres and it now seems they're spoilt for choice.

Film buff and enthusiast, Raman Venugopalan who was spotted at the PVR Cinemas during a film-spree said, "This week is just amazing! For a multi-lingual film lover like me, it's hard to decide which film to watch. I've just watched 'Unnaipol Oruvan' and earlier in the morning I watched 'Up.' Unnaipol Oruvan is fabulous and is a must watch for anyone who loves Tamil cinema. This one seems to break all older styles and a movie sans the random comedy sequences and the usually-a-must Dabaangkoothu song, is really refreshing. Watch out for fabulous performances by Kamal Hassan, Mohanlal and newcomer Ganesh Venkataraman, who's proved he's more than a cute face. I didn't like the background score and think Shruti Hassan ought to stick to singing. 'Up' on the other hand was extremely surprising and the world with a view from a disgruntled old man's perspective, just makes you see how beautiful this world actually is. It seems extremely rare for a day like this, but later tonight I will be watching 'Kaanaa Kanmani' in Malayalam and since I am a Jayaram fan, I'm sure I'll love that too."

College student Shweta Tiwari also thinks so, and we caught her right out of her second movie for the day at Inox Cinemas. "I just watched 'Dil Bole Hadippa' and while I think its fabulous for being mindless Hindi entertainment, you can wait for the DVD if you want to. It's definitely not something you'll miss. 'Wanted' was surprisingly interesting. I've watched the original in Telugu (Pokkiri)u00a0and I think Prabhudeva has done a fabulous job with Sallu Bhai. I'm looking forward to watching 'Blue Oranges' later tonight.u00a0
