Many Marathi filmmakers are now switching to the Hindi medium. First National winner, Nishikant Kamat who made Dombivli Fast (2005) in Marathi made his Hindi debut with Mumbai Meri Jaan, and now Mangesh Hadawale, who made Tingya (2007), will direct a Hindi film with Aamir Khan in the lead.

In the past

Tingya was highly acclaimed by critics, loved by the audiences and was the highest-grossing films of the year it released in. For his next, tentatively titled Ticket, Mangesh has roped in Disney Movies as producers.

A source reveals, "Tingya was one of the top runners for the official selection from the India along with Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par but ultimately the Hindi film was selected. Aamir is away with his wife Kiran, who is recuperating after her recent miscarriage. His office has received a request from Mangesh and they now going to reschedule him in the coming week for a lengthy narration."

However Aamir's official spokesperson says, "We haven't yet heard the script so there is no question of us saying yes or no to the project."

The film is said to roll by early next year.
