THE BREAKFAST CLUB: This 1985 release was probably the best movie of the '80s. I remember seeing it with my school friends several times. Directed by John Hughes, it had characters so well etched that one could relate to each of the them and identify with at least one. It's about five high school students, all different stereotypes who meet in detention. They pour their hearts out to each other and discover how they have a lot more in common than they thought.Timeless.

THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN: This Western classic had a great ensemble cast. Inspired by Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, MS has Yul Brynner at the helm of the cast and he delivers a stellar performance in one of his best films apart from The King and I. I watched this movie over and over again and still do so, given the chance.
BOBBY: I was very young when this movie released but even at that age, I found the music of this film haunting. I remember going to primary school and listening to the songs on the car radio. I loved the way Premnath's character developed. What a brilliant performance by him!
SATTE PE SATTE: I think everyone from my generation has seen this movie more than once. This Raj Sippy remake of Seven Brides For Seven Brothers had superb casting. And to top it all, it had the Big B in a double role. It had a terrific background score to match as well. As a young boy, I used to love this film. There is an actor called Sudhir who was also superb in this film. It's a shame he doesn't do much work now.
SHOLAY: I remember the first time I saw it I was too young. When I saw it on TV, years later, it left an indelible impression on my psyche. The train sequence and the soundtrack are some of the best cinematic experiences I've ever enjoyed. I must have seen this film over a hundred times and still continue to watch it. I feel that everyone associated with the project was at their creative peak which resulted in this movie becoming the greatest film ever made in India.
