The company, with vacancies for 1,000 freshers, will also hire students from other cities in the country

Delhi University (DU) has made its first international tie-up with a Japanese merchandise company, fruitful for a score of its students in its placement drive of the Central Placement Cell (CPC) held on November 29.u00a0




Uniqlo, a Japanese firm, which, according to its website, is Japan's leading and world's fourth largest apparel company, visited the campus for the career seminar on Tuesday. The seminar was attended by more than 750 students from different colleges and various departments of the university.

The company in its first recruitment seminar in the university has gathered CVs of all the 750 participating students. The total number of vacancies in the firm is around 1,000, for which, apart from DU, they will also reach out to students from Mumbai, Chennai, among other cities.u00a0

According to Gulshan Sawhney, in-charge, CPC: "The Japanese firm has assured us that it will select about 100 students from the university. They will analyse the CVs online and come back again in January to declare the final list of students, for which the final interview will be held in Japan and students will be placed internationally."

While the average package offered last year was Rs 6.5 lakh per annum, the highest offered by Uniqlo is Rs 1.3 lakh (2,10,000 Yen) per month. This will be for students placed in Japan.
