MiD DAY calls police after the wanted Nilesh Ghaywal is spotted near his residence in Shastrinagar, but they arrive to find the bird has flown


Nilesh Ghaywal, the notorious criminal who has been absconding for months and is wanted in a number of cases that include murder, was spotted near his residence in Shastrinagar, Kothrud, in the afternoon yesterday. The person who spotted Ghaywal called MiD DAY, and MiD DAY called the police, who rushed to the spot but just missed their quarry.

Arrival in rickshaw
The person who saw Ghaywal told MiD DAY he saw the wanted man step out of an autorickshaw along with a person in his early 20's. "I saw him entering the by-lane adjoining Ashish Plaza, where he is believed to have his residence," said the source.

"Ghaywal was in a white shirt and black trousers. He hurriedly entered the by-lane."

A resident of the area confirmed it was Ghaywal. "Ghaywal indeed paid his family a visit, stayingu00a0 some time," said the resident.

Police comb area
As soon as MiD DAY alerted the police, the Crime Branch swung into action and combed the entire area.
"We went over the entire area, but with no result," said DCP (Crime) Anant Rokade.

Police sources said they searched all 32 flats in Ashish Plaza and other homes in the vicinity but were not able tou00a0 find Ghaywal.
