When asked which is most dear to him, he said, “the most priceless memorabilia for me are the coins that I have got from my coach Achrekar sir.”
Ramakant Achrekar would put a one-rupee coin on top of the stump and ask Tendulkar to bat. If he stayed unbeaten, he could keep them. The batting great has preserved those coins.
Yesterday, Tendulkar unveiled the ‘Collectabillia Celebrity Wall’ at the Coffee Day Lounge which will have memorabilia autographed by legends from different walks of life. The collection includes Tendulkar’s 200th Test commemorative autographed bat, along with the gloves signed by Ali.
