A small-time actor was arrested for sending his nude photos to a woman on Monday.
Identified as Sanil Sodhi, the actor is the son of a retired IAS officer from Madhya Pradesh. Living in Shivam apartments, Panchmarg, Yari Road in Andheri (West) since two years, Sodhi earned a living by doing small roles in Bollywood films and television serials.
According to Versova Police, Sodhi had met the victim — a resident of Versova — in a party around five months ago. They exchanged BlackBerry pins and kept in touch through messenger.
According to the victim, she received a ping on Sunday night and found Sodhi’s nude pictures in the message.
According to the police, the accused had sent around 25 nude photos of himself to the victim through BB Messenger in the past.
However, after the last message, the victim and her husband decided to involve the cops. They approached the Versova police early yesterday morning and registered a case against Sodhi.
The actor was arrested under section 509 (Insulting modesty) of the IPC and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act for electronically transmitting obscene content.
The police has seized Sodhi’s phone and sent it for forensic examination.
“We need to verify whether Sodhi has sent such content to other women as well,” said Sharad Borse, Senior Police Inspector of Versova police station.
Sodhi has been part of television series like 'Rishte' (on Zee TV), 'Hum' (on DD1), 'Pintoo' and was also spotted in Bollywood movie 'Hu Tu Tu' (starring Tabu and Suniel Shetty) and 'Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Ma' (featuring Jaya Bachchan, Anupam Kher and Seema Biswas).
