The next time Adhyayan Suman issues a cheque, he needs to check his bank balance first and save himself the embarrassment when his cheques bounce. Especially when the amount is a little over Rs 5000 a paltry sum for any Bollywood hero.

The Jashn actor recently issued a cheque of Rs 5,801 for membership to the Cine and TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA). It is mandatory for all actors to be affiliated to the organisation to work in Bollywood. To the surprise of the CINTAA office folk, the cheque bounced. The bank told them it happened due to insufficient funds in his account.

It is learnt that when the cheque bounced, Adhyayan was holidaying in America. As a result the CINTAA staff had to get in touch with Suman Jr in the US. Irritated, the newbie did not want to be disturbed on his holiday and expressed his dis- pleasure. Only when the association folk told him firmly that he would not be given membership that he agreed to send his secretary to sort out the issue. Finally, the secretary came to the CINTAA office and paid the amount in cash.

Adhyayan however maintains, "The cheque did not bounce. The issue was because of my signature. I have four different signatures. As I was in the US, there was nothing I could do about the signature on the cheque. Nor could I immediately re-issue another cheque."

The star son adds, "The CINTAA people called me at least 500 times. I felt it was a small issueu00a0 and told them that I would give them another when I returned to Mumbai." He continues, "A fresh cheque was issued. I've already received my membership card."

Gajendra Chauhan, chairman of the scrutiny committee of CINTAA, denies the episode. "Nothing of the sort happened," he claims.

The source however states that the office folkis aware of what happened. "It appears they now want to strangely cover up the incident."

Though many may still not adhere to it, it is a well-known fact that to work in filmdom, actors need to become members of CINTAA. Presently Johny Lever is the president of CINTAA and Aruna Irani is the vice-president.
