Adrian D'Souza banned for one year
Former India hockey goalie Adrian D'Souza was banned by the Nationa Anti-Doping disciplinary panel for one year yesterday after having tested positive for marijuana during the World Series Hockey (WSH) held earlier this year
D’Souza had tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a metabolite of marijuana, in a sample collected after a WSH match in Jalandhar in March.
The disciplinary panel, chaired by retired justice Dinesh Dayal, reduced the ban to a year after a supplementary affidavit was submitted by the custodian yesterday. The fresh affidavit was from a person named Anthony Kaithavalappil who had earlier submitted an affidavit stating that the party at which he smoked, was at his place in Mumbai on March 15 this year.
