Last seen as an illiterate domestic help in 'Nil Battey Sannata', Swara Bhaskar is set to go bold for her next. She will feature in the adaptation of Aditya Kripalani's 'Tikli and Laxmi Bomb' centered on two sex workers. The project will be helmed by the novelist himself.

Says an insider, "Swara will play the role of 22-year-old Tikli while Marathi actress Vibhavari Deshpande will be seen in Laxmi's character aged 40. The film has been crowd-funded and is supposed to go on floors early next year."

In the book, the two sex workers decide to form a co-operative which is run by and for the women themselves, and takes on patriarchy.

Confirming the news, Aditya says, "The film will roll out in January and we shall shoot at real locations. Suchitra Pillai is also part of the film."

Swara adds, "Aditya approached me and asked me to read the book first. When I did, I realised that he was doing the right thing by turning his work into a film. It's a great plot, a great role and I think it will make for a really interesting watch. It will show the world of sex workers through an imaginative and empathetic lens."
