Auto driver refuses to ferry Dipak Sonawane to his home in Laxminagar after discharge from hospital in Pune, police official abuses him when he tries to lodge complaint
Dipak Sonawane, who lost his wife and two children in the accident near Khalapur toll plaza on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, claims he was bullied by a police official after he called the police control room to complain about an autorickshaw driver who refused to take him to his destination in Pune.
Sonawane, who is a labourer, lost his wife Reshma and sons Swapnil and Om in the accident.

“I was accompanying the wedding party and was away from the bus when the accident took place. My wife and two sons got crushed when a truck rammed into our standing bus,” Sonawane said. “I was in shock after the accident and was brought to Pune and admitted to a hospital in Yerawada. After medication, I was discharged. After stepping out of the hospital, I and my two friends decided to go home as we had to prepare for the last rites of my wife and children.”
He said he asked an auto driver to take him and his friends to Laxminagar, but was refused.
“I requested the auto driver to take us to Laxminagar and told him my entire family had just died in an accident, but he did not listen. So I called the police control room to lodge a complaint against him,” he said. “After some time, a policeman, Pramod Shelar, came to the spot and started abusing me and also threatened to slap me. As I was not in a condition to argue with him, I told him about the tragedy, but he was in no mood to listen to me.”
Sonawane then took another autorickshaw and rushed home.
Later he met the Senior Police Inspector Dipak Sawant of the Yerawada police station and narrated the incident. Sawant assured him that appropriate action would be taken.u00a0
