Mumbai Cricket Association's (MCA) newly-elected president Ravi Savant set the ball rolling straightaway in his first meeting with its members yesterday. Savant pipped Prof Ratnakar Shetty for president's post last month.
Savant warned a repeat of an Ajit Agarkar-like incident won’t be tolerated. “I don’t want a situation where a player who returned home from a Ranji match and becomes the captain in the next tournament. Such a situation should be avoided.

I will not tolerate any indiscipline. I will have no mercy,” Savant said while addressing the gathering yesterday. The senior Mumbai pacer flew back home in disgust after his name did not figure in the playing XI of a Ranji Trophy match against Orissa last November.
Savant gave a glimpse of his ambitious plans which included extending cricket equipment subsidy to not just maidan clubs, but office clubs and schools, increasing subsidies to the clubs, tournament restructuring, introduction of Mumbai T20 Prestige League, use of technology in tournaments etc.u00a0
