Vaishali Dalmiya, the daughter of new president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) didn't sleep till her dad Jagmohan Dalmiya arrived in Kolkata from Chennai late on Monday night.

"I was waiting for his arrival and we congratulated him immediately on his return," she said over the telephone from Kolkata.

"Obviously we are all very happy and overwhelmed with his appointment. 'Boss' is back after 11 years and we are all very excited," she added.

Interestingly, Jagmohan Dalmiya is four months younger than what is believed. "His date of birth is not May 30, 1940, as in Wikipedia and on other websites. He was born in the month of September," she clarifies.

Defying age
Vaishali does not believe that Dalmiya's current age — 74 would cause any hindrance in his work. "No, no. Age is just the number. My dad has a passion. He is workaholic and very active and his yet another innings with the Indian cricket will benefit the game."

She does not believe that heading the game at the international level once and then leading the national board again is a demotion. "I think heading a national body is equally prestigious. To be the part of the BCCI is no less prestigious. My father also ruled the Asian Cricket Council (ACC)."
