There was a sense of anticipation at Hema Malini's recent spiritual dance ballet Yashoda-Krishna. It was known that the actress-producer-danseuseu00a0was playing Yashoda but the name of the dancer performing the adult Krishna character, was not declared.u00a0
Eventually, as the finale segment concluded, it was revealed that it was the actress' younger daughter Ahana Deol (clad in an ornate costume and turban) who played the male character of Lord Krishna. The bashful Deol girl who is a also a budding fashion designer won thundering applause.

The Odissi trained Ahana later told us, "It's so overwhelming when the audience connects with you. It's an honour to play Kishen-Kanhaiya that too with my real-life mother as Yashoda maiyya.u00a0 Even in Haridwar, I recently performed with my mom playing Dharti Maa and I playedu00a0 Ganga. We received a fabulous response," she says.
She stresses that her designing passion hasn't taken a backseat with her frequent commitments to dance ballets,u00a0 "On the contrary, I am all set to finally open my own fashion store in Mumbai on April 18 in the suburbs. Later there will be one more in Colaba.u00a0 Besides my designer wear, the store will also exhibit various accessories.u00a0
She has also designed clothes for her home-production Tell Me O Khuda, "Not the entire movie. Just a few of them, and also for my sister Esha. If my mom decides to be part of the Tell Meu2026 cast, designing for someone who is hailed as the original dream-girl would be a dream come true for me," she smiles.
