Goalkeeper Hansel Lobo's performance stood out for St Francis D' Assisi High School (Borivli) as they won 3-1 via penalties over Cathedral and John Connon School (Fort) in the pre-quarterfinal match of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association-organised Ahmed Sailor boys U-16 knockout football tournament at Azad Maidan on Saturday.


Cathedral and John Connon opened their account in the 19th minute when striker Sumeir Zaveri hammered the ball into the net from close range. The Fort outfit doubled their lead through Arhan Thakar's goal in the 23rd minute. After the break, the Borivli team came back fighting into the contest and reduced the margin through Harsh Dhekale's goal in the 37th minute.


The Fort team equalised in the 46th minute when Larren Fernandes slotted the ball home off a free kick.

With scores tied 2-2 after regulation time, the game headed for a tie-breaker.

During the penalty shootout, Larren, Hansel and Siddant Shetty netted for St Francis, while Kabbir Sukhwani scored for the Fort outfit.
