A case of dowry death has been slapped on the accused

An Air India Pilot was arrested by Ghaziabad Police under a dowry death case after his 30-year-old wife allegedly committed suicide. Police said that the accused Deepchand used to harass her for bringing insufficient dowry and used to beat her up regularly.

"The deceased identified as Kajal hanged herself from the ceiling at her house in sector 6 in Vasundhara. Police received a PCR call in this respect at around 11:30 PM on Thursday. A police team was sent to the spot and body was rushed to a nearby government hospital where doctor declared her brought dead," said the police official.

The official said that body was sent for post-mortem and her family members were informed about the incident.
The deceased's father gave a statement to the police in which he alleged that she was being harassed by her in-laws and husband for dowry. Taking action on his statement police lodged an FIR of dowry harassment case against Deepchand and got him arrested.

Unhappily married
The police said that the couple got married in 2009 after their families arranged the match. But the relationship soured very soon. "Deepchand had tried to kill her even before this. He allegedly set his wife on fire after six months of their wedding. Kajal escaped with some injuries and chose not to go to the police," said the police official. He added that Kajal's in-laws may be arrested soon.

Ex-BSF jawan kills self
A 55-year-old retired Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, who was working at a North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) plant as a security guard allegedly committed suicide in the plant's premises in Mangolpuri area of outer Delhi on Thursday night.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Suresh Kumar. He was staying with his wife and two sons in Bawana area of outer Delhi. "Around three years ago, he had taken voluntary retirement from BSF and was working as a security guard at the power plant Since then," said a police officer.

The officer said that the incident was reported on Friday morning when the body of Suresh Kumar was found hanging from the railings of a staircase by other employees. "The PCR call was made at around 6.30 am by his colleagues and then, he was taken to Sanjay Gandhi hospital where he was declared brought dead," added the officer.

No suicide note has been recovered from the spot. Initial investigations suggest that Suresh took this extreme step due to financial crisis as he needed money to construct a new home.
