That Senegalese-American singer, songwriter and producer Akon is expected to perform in Gurgaon (April 16) and Bangalore (April 17) is known. 
What isn't known is that the singer, who features in Shah Rukh Khan's Ra.One, will rock a private gig in either Mumbai or Pune a day before that.

Mumbai and Pune were skipped on the concert itinerary because of the high entertainment taxes levied on concerts in the state.u00a0
However, Akon has friends in B-Town and was keen on bringing in his birthday on April 15 (a day before his actual b'day) with his new buddies and his fans, come what may.
An insider informs us, "The concerts were actually supposed to kick off this weekend. But he postponed his trip to be able to celebrate his birthday here. He has a major gig in Los Angeles the week after that."
This will be the first time the star will celebrate his janamdin away from home. Naturally, invites have already gone out to close friends from B-Town. "SRK and gang are expected to attend", reveals the insider.
Around a thousand fans can also be part of Akon's birthday celebrations. The venue is as yet undecided as the organisers are looking for a suitable space that can accommodate so many people.
"He will address a press conference in the morning on the 15th and head to Mumbai/Pune soon after," adds the source.
Sujit Jain, MD-Netsurf Entertainment (concert organisers) confirms, "After his private event last year, Akon wanted to give the general public, along with the B-Town fraternity, an opportunity to share in his (birthday) celebration and party and dance the night away.
The team is making full arrangements to ensure it is a success since there are many firsts to his visit in India this time around."
