The eight operators TabCab, Meru, Bookmycab, Easy Cabs, Priyadarshini Taxi, TaxiForSure, Ola and Cabzo have submitted details of their drivers, including the name, permit number, driving licence, residential address and data on the driver’s criminal background, if any. They have also submitted details of the fleet size, among other things.
“An official from Uber said they will provide the details on December 12 as their system is based abroad,” said a transport department official. On December 10, Transport Commissioner Mahesh Zagade had said he was unhappy with the current data provided and maintained by these operators.
The new data will now help RTOs across the state. Until now, private operators who would operate only through apps would only ask for the name, mobile number and driving licence of their drivers.
