Riding on Niel Patade's all-round show Swami Vivekanand International School (Kandivli) earned a consolation win beating The Cathedral and John Cannon (Fort) by an innings and 63 runs to end their Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) U-14 Giles Shield campaign at Cross Maidan yesterday.

Despite the win, SVIS failed to make it to the semi-finals having lost their previous two matches, to Rizvi Springfield and SVIS (Borivli) respectively.

Thiteen-year-old Niel bagged a match haul of seven wickets and scored a crucial 75 in his team's victory.
On Day Two yesterday, SVIS resumed on an overnight score of 197-7, with a lead of 54 runs. Lower order batsman Shaksham Rawat continued from his previous day's score of 28 and went on to score a patient 91 before he was clean bowled by Amogh Gwalani. SVIS finished with 335 on the board, a lead of 192.
In reply, John Cannon could manage only 125 as SVIS' left-arm spinner Rishi Shah and right-arm medium pacer Rohit Shinde picked up three wicket each to wrap up the opponent's innings and with it, the match.
