Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amar Singh on Monday alleged that he got a threatening phone call from an associate of underworld don Chhota Rajan and was asked to stay away from his party colleague Abu Asim Azmi.

"I have informed Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Home Minister Jayant Patil and also the National Security Advisor about the threat," Singh told reporters here.

He demanded security for himself, Azmi, Jaya Bachchan and actor Sanjay Dutt, who was recently made party general secretary.
An official in the Chief Minister's office confirmed that Amar Singh had called up Chavan, alleging a threat to his life.
"The Chief Minister has asked police to probe the authenticity of the complaint and take action accordingly," the official said.
