The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) officials recently arrested a Pune-based man in Anushakti Nagar, with the party drug LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide), worth nearly Rs 3 lakh.

The accused, Manish Doulat Singhani (36), told interrogators that he had bought the expensive drug from a supplier in Goa, and had come to Mumbai to sell it to drug peddlers.

The police said that after reliable information was received by ANC officials about a person who would try to sell LSD in Mumbai a trap was laid recently by the Ghatkopar ANC unit. “A team comprising Senior Inspector Dilip Sawant, Sub-Inspector Charu Chavan and other staff then arrested Singhani with the drug from a bus stop in Anushakti Nagar on Panvel-Sion Highway,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police, ANC, Jayant Naiknavare.

The arrested accused was found in possession of 97 LSD dots papers worth R2,91,000. Each LSD dot paper costs between R2,000-3,000. LSD is typically either swallowed or held under the tongue. It is often sold on blotting paper.
Its consumption creates hallucinations.

“This (seized drug) is a commercial quantity of drug, hence accordingly, relevant sections of NDPS Act were invoked against the accused,” the DCP said.

Himself a drug addict Sources said that the accused himself is a drug addict, and in order to meet the demand of money to buy the drugs, he got lured into peddling by drug racketeers.

Originally a resident of Bandra, Singhani developed issues in his marriage, and left the house and had been staying in Pune for the past few years.

He told interrogators that to buy drugs from Goa he had sold the jewellery of his wife. He has been remanded in police custody till October 10.
