Located on the Andheri Kurla Road, Cafe Chai Bar is an in-house tea service that serves Mumbai’s famous Kadak Chai inside a corporate office. Currently, they offer services to places like Amway, Sodexho Pass, Yahoo.com and NMIMS among others. The tea is brewed the traditional way, slowly, and is made using high-quality tea leaves, fresh milk and ginger.

Gopal Bhatt Tea Stall, Andheri (W)
Masala Cutting Chai (Rs 5)
Nearly 20 years ago, two brothers -- Gopal and Rup Bhatt -- arrived in Mumbai to make a living. They chose this spot to run a tea stall, and haven’t moved from there since then. The brothers are courteous to their customers, and welcome everyone with a smile. They use a special mixture of spices to make this tea, which rejuvenates tired souls who seek solace from a steaming cuppa.

Ashok Patil Tea Stall, Crawford Market
Masala Chai (Rs 7)
Ashok Patil, a 20-year-old student, who lost his father during the 1992-1993 Mumbai riots, runs this tea stall. He runs this tea stall to fund his education and support his family. He also participates in the Mumbai Marathon, and hasn’t missed a single run since it started.

Vishnu Chaiwala, Matunga

The chai is almost as good as the man who makes it. For years, he has armed local students with chai -- with a hint of cardamom. Students from Ruia, Podar and Welingkar admit his tea is the reason they attend college.

Ashish Soni Tea Stall, Mahalaxmi
Elaichi Chai (Rs 12 for full)
This stall, located beside Famous Cinema at Mahalaxmi, is known for its Elaichi Chai (R12). Its 19-year-old owner Ashish Soni has introduced newer varieties of teas like Lemongrass Chai, Ginger Chai, Masala Chai and most recently, Mint Chai (each priced at R15), and prepares them with a secret recipe of milk, sugar and a mixture of spices that gives it a unique flavour. Ashish worked at the same stall as a kid and he took over as the full-time owner after his uncle passed away a few years ago.

Lucky Tea Stall, Kandivali
Special Cutting Chai (Rs 7)

This tea stall has been around for almost 13-14 years, and is run by 28-year-old Imran Khan. It is popular for its Special Cutting Chai that costs R7 only. People come all the way from Bandra and Borivali to drink their Special Cutting Chai, which is Prepared using a special tea powder, and a mix of elaichi and ginger.

Jagatram Cycle Tea Vendor, Matunga Circle
Special Instant Chai (Rs 10)
Jagatram is a cycle tea vendor, who sells tea and coffee post-midnight in Matunga Circle. His Special Instant Chai, served using a hot mixture of milk, sugar and spices, and tea bags, is very popular among residents of Matunga, who roam the streets of this side of town in the night, especially for his tea. Jagatram supports his two sons, who are currently pursuing their college degrees through his tea business.

Paramount Cafe, Charni Road

This restaurant, beside Charni Road’s famous juice house Bachelorr’s has devoted patrons. Many have been drinking tea at Paramount for years now. The sea view from the restaurant has changed, but the tea still tastes the same.
