Shah Rukh Khan

Now, it is learnt that while the scripting for Rohit's other film Angoor (originally made by Gulzar) was in the process, the director got his writers to pen the script of Chennai Express as well.

A source reveals, "Since it's not easy to get Shah Rukh's dates, Rohit felt it was important to have another script ready. If the script of Angoor remake didn't shape up to their liking, it would take a while before they came up with another concept for a film with SRK."

Kareena Kapoor

The source also adds that SRK was impressed with the idea at the first narration of Chennai Express. It is said that after SRK said yes to Chennai Express, the Angoor remake is now on hold.

Our source informs further, "Shah Rukh has a romantic film under the direction of Yash Chopra apart from Don 2. In a way, this is a break from action films."

Also...
Buzz is that, instead of Kareena Kapoor who has now been finalised to play the heroine, SRK was initially keen to have Katrina Kaif as his leading lady.

Rohit Shetty

Apparently, he was miffed with Bebo for prioritising Bodyguard over RA.One. However, Rohit felt Kareena, who has also worked in his Golmaal series would suit the character better.

"Considering the action-comedy element of the film, the female character is quite a firebrand. No one else except Kareena could suit the part," says our source.

And then...
Talking about the fate of the Angoor remake, our source says that the rights of the film are now with Rohit who is said to be getting R 12 crore as his fees for Chennai Express. We wonder if Rohit will cast his favourite actor Ajay Devgn next for his remake.
