Almost a week after a 35-metre concrete girder fell down at the Sahar elevated road construction site near the international airport, a body of another labourer was found on Sunday night, taking the death toll to four
Search and rescue workers found the body of Arun Kumar (27) on Sunday while clearing the debris at the site around 9 pm. “The body of labourer Arun Kumar was recovered from the debris after three days of rescue operations. Upon hearing the news about their son going missing, his family arrived in the city. They may fly the body back to his village in Bihar by Monday evening,” said a Larsen & Toubro official who was present at the site of the accident.

A doctor on duty at Cooper Hospital said, “The body of the labourer was brought in late Sunday night for a post-mortem. According to the postmortem report, the cause of death is head injuries.” With Kumar’s body being found, the death toll has increased to four, while six others have been injured in the accident.
Two of the six are still critical. Suresh Prasad who was admitted to Seven Hills Hospital and Birendra Das (28) admitted to Holy Spirit Hospital in Andheri, are still in a coma. The other four labourers who sustained multiple fractures underwent surgeries during the course of last week. Mantu Prasad (45), injured in the accident, is now conscious and has been taken off the ventilator. However, he is still recovering in the ICU at Seven Hills Hospital.u00a0
