On the day, when the 23-year-old Delhi gang rape victim was awarded justice after her attackers were convicted, in Punjab, a minor was brutally raped and then dumped on the road in the same way that the medical student was flung out of the bus after the brutal incident.
The two-year-old, who was bleeding and in a critical state, is now battling for her life in a hospital. Police interrogations revealed that the child’s father is a labourer. The girl’s father told the police that he could not find his child when he woke up at 2.30 in the night.
Sensing that something was amiss, he, along with his family and neighbours, started searching for the child. She was later found dumped on the roadside.
The family took her home and she was later taken to a civil hospital. Doctors there referred her to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh for treatment as her condition was serious.
The complaint was filed after the survivor told her mother that she was abducted and raped by two persons. The police said the child was sleeping with her parents when she was kidnappedby her attackers. He also alleged that the men stole Rs 8,000.
Wailing and angry, the father demanded that the accused be caught and made to pay for their crimes. The police are investigating the case after the medical report confirmed it was a rape.
