"By making such baseless and unverified allegations in unparliamentary, and abusive language, you had committed offences punishable under provisions of the IPC including the offence of criminal defamation," Ali said in the notice. On December 31, Pavan Kalyan - youngest brother of actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi attacked Congress leaders for "looting public money."

In the same context he termed Ali Shabbir a "traitor" for failing to protect Wakf properties. This prompted Shabbir to react who threatened to launch action against Pavan Kalyan for criminal defamation.
