After a long wait Apple finally announced its new line-up of MacBook Pro computers, those equipped with Touch Bar and strip of touch sensitive OLED panel above the keyboard. Though all these latest additions are really innovative for us, yet Apple did something typical to its nature. It dumped all standard ports that were there in the previous laptops in favour of four USB Type C Thunderbolt 3.0 ports. This change in Apple’s laptops has seriously impacted professionals like photographers. The base model is expected to start from Rs 1,55,900. But in case you are not interested in investing so much in the new MacBook Pro, we have some alternatives for you:


Microsoft Surface Pro 4


The Surface Pro 4 along with the Surface Type cover and Surface Pen makes for an amazing alternative to the MacBook Pro. Though it might be a pretty old device, but it features a strong responsive keyboard along with all necessary ports. The system has a 12.3-inch IPS LCD PixelSense screen with a high resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels with 3:2 aspect ratio. Surface Book is another alternative to Surface Pro 4, which is now revamped with a longer battery life.

Lenovo Yoga 900

This is a current introduction in Lenovo’s consumer segment of laptops. The Yoga 900 ultrabook is around 15mm thick with lids closed and weighs as less as 1.27kg. It is powered by Intel Core i7 6500U, a dual-core hyper-threaded CPU and backed by 8GB RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. There is USB 3.0 port to the right hand top, 3.5mm audio jack and power port at the left top followed by another USB 3.0 port, apart from a SD card reader.

Dell XPS 13
This is one of the best looking laptops till now. It is compact in size and comes with 13-inch display. There are two USB 3.0 ports, a SD card reader, a 3.5mm combo jack and a Kensington lock port. Interestingly, one USB port is always on, which means one can charge USB based devices like a smartphone.

HP Spectre
HP claims this to be the thinnest laptops with a thickness of 10mm. it is packed by Intel Core i7 6500U processor with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage. There are two USB Type C Thunderbolt 3.0 ports and one USB Type C port for charging. The laptop also has USB, HDMI and Ethernet port built in it.

Acer Aspire S13
It is one of the best Windows ultrabooks. Apart from 8GB LPDDR3 RAM and a 512GB SSD, the laptop has two inbuilt USB 3.0 ports, one on each side. There is a SD card reader too. It is light in weight and is known to be a high performance device. It can be ideal for daily use.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon
This is a great alternative for those who do need the Touch Bar. The Thinkpad has Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, 3x USB 3.0 port, 1x HDMI port, 1x miniDP, a microSIM card and more. It is backed by 8GB of RAM and makes a good alternative for the new MacBook Pro.
